TERM 3 Calendar (updated 6 July 07)

Just my 3 cents about today's First Aid Duty @ Chinese Garden..

First of all, some cadets' shirts were not tucked in and some were dragging their footwear. Most of us should have known that teen triathlete Thaddeus Cheong died of heart failure. He collapsed at the finish line. Though he had a weak pulse after he collapsed, he died at the hospital, so there should always be cadets at the finishing line to look out for casualties. I was also a casualty in case you guys didnt know, I was so dehydrated and you guys didnt know. There was a casualty at the finishing line, he vommited and luckily there were first aiders at the finishing line at that time.

Points to note when going for First Aid Duty:

Check if the supplies in each and every first aid kit and box are sufficient.
DONT EVER USE THE SUPPLIES IN THE DEMO FIRST AID KIT!! THE SUPPLIES INSIDE HAVE EXPIRED AND ARE ONLY USED FOR TEACHING, NOT FOR ACTUAL USE!!

Date: Group 1 - 4 June 2007*
Group 2 - 5 June 2007*

* please choose 1 preferred date

Time: 9.00am - 5.30pm

Venue: No. 2 Seng Kang Square
#05-01 Seng Kang Community Hub (Next to Seng Kang MRT)

Attire: Mufti (Red Cross T-shirt with school bottoms and track shoes)

Things to bring: Writing materials

Meals: Cadets are to have breakfast before coming for the course. Lunch will be at their own expenses.

Closing date for registration is 25 May 2007 (Friday).

Registration will be on a first-come-first serve basis


2. RED CROSS YOUTH CURRENT AFFAIRS COMPETITION 2007

Date: Saturday, 28 July 2007

Theme: disaster preparedness in local and worldwide context.

Objectives of the competition are:
(1) To motivate the Red Cross Youth members to play an active role in understanding the Current Affairs of the Red Cross in both local and worldwide context

(2) To allow the knowledge on disaster preparation to be shared by the participants and non-participating cadets through the preparation and the competition itself

Closing date: before Friday, 11 May 2007.

3. Briefing for CURRENT AFFAIRS COMPETITION 2007 participants

Date: 18 May 2007, Friday

Time: 6.30pm to 8.30pm

Venue: Red Cross House, 15 Penang Lane, Singapore 238486
Haw Par Hall, Level 2


4. RED CROSS YOUTH DIRECTOR'S AWARD NOMINATION AND CADETS' RECOGNITION DAY 2007

One nominated cadet from our unit will receive the Director's Award and ONE BONUS CCA point.

The Director's Award badge is to be worn on the right side of the Red Cross uniform, above the nametag and incentive badges.


B) RED CROSS YOUTH CADETS’ RECOGNITION DAY 2007

Date: 14th July 2007

Time: 1pm to 4pm

Venue: Red Cross House, 15 Penang Lane, S238486
Haw Par Hall, Level 2

All teacher-officers and graduating cadets will be invited to this event.


5. PARTICIPATING ON THE AIDS CANDLELIGHT MEMORIAL SERVICE 2007

Organised by the Action For AIDS (AFA), this is an annual international event held to remember those who have died from AIDS. The Memorial provides an opportunity to come to terms with death and AIDS. It has become a powerful symbol of the presence of AIDS in Singapore, and a timely reminder for the community & Singaporeans at large to renew its commitment to fight AIDS discrimination.

Event Theme: "Leading The Way To A World Without AIDS"

Date: 20 May 2007, Sunday

Time: 7:00pm

Venue: SMU Conference Hall, Level 2, School of Accountancy, School of Law, 60 Stamford Road,Singapore 178900 (Building next to Fort Canning Tunnel)

Date: 3 Feb 07, Sat

Time: 7.45am (Regent Sec Foyer), bus sets off at 8.10am sharp!
(end time: 1pm for part A & est. 5pm for Part B)

Venue: Evergreen Sec (Woodlands)

Note:
1. All cadets are required to support on that day.
2. All cadets are advised to bring umbrella or poncho as the weather has been quite wet and the school does not have good shelters to the bus stops.
3. Have a good breakfast before coming. The Evergreen's school canteen will be opened that day but expected limited food.
